From 8/28/2011 through 9/22/2011 I looked at the problems and came up with a solution.

Initally the thought was a cap over front steps would do and a sump in the rear to catch intrusion water wou8ld be best. Then at some point realized the sidewalk grade was sloping back towards the front stairwell so at least one sump had to be installed in the front...

I waterproofed the rear and rear side basement with the thought a sump and trench back there may be needed for backup.

We installed a sump in the front corner where water pools along with a drain at the front basement door.
